Honey New Zealand Active 10+ Wild Flora Honey is only produced in the rich wild fields of New Zealand's Waikato Valley region. Researchers, using laboratory tests, have found high level of biological activity in this honey.
"Active" honey
Honey has an antibacterial activity, due primarily to hydrogen peroxide formed in a "slow-release" manner by the enzyme glucose oxidase present in honey, which can vary widely in potency. Some honeys are no more antibacterial than sugar, while others can be diluted more than 100-fold and still halt the growth of bacteria. "Active Wild Flora honey" is tested for its antibacterial activity.
Wild Flora honey has been tested for its anti-oxidant activity using a Trolox assay method. This involves using a water-soluble version of Vitamin E as a standard for how other products/components compare to it in absorption capacity. Vitamin E is well recognised for its role in absorbing the free radicals causing cell damage in the body.
The results show Active Wild Flora is similar to fruit in antioxidant content.
